Wellbeing & Support

Caring for animals is heavy work. You don't have to carry it alone.

Veterinary professionals face some of the highest stress levels of any field. Compassion fatigue and burnout are occupational realities, not personal failures. This page exists so that reaching out is one click closer.

What compassion fatigue looks like

Compassion fatigue is the emotional and physical erosion that comes from caring deeply, case after case, loss after loss. In veterinary medicine it is compounded by euthanasia, difficult client conversations, financial pressure on families, and long hours. It builds quietly, and the people it hits hardest are often the ones who care the most.

It can show up as

  • Emotional exhaustion, numbness, or dreading shifts you used to love
  • Irritability with clients, coworkers, or family
  • Trouble sleeping, or replaying cases at night
  • Feeling that nothing you do is enough
  • Withdrawing from the people and things that usually restore you

If any of that sounds familiar, in yourself or a teammate, please reach out. Talk to someone you trust, talk to your practice leadership, talk to a professional. The organizations below exist precisely for our profession, and every one of them will take your call seriously.
